ABOUT MY TEACHING STYLE

I've been teaching this course at university as a graduate teaching fellow, and I loved teaching all 180 students. I've been a practicing designer since 2007 and have an MFA in multiplatform storytelling.

In the classroom, I connect with each student to make the course material relevant for them. I do this through one-on-one connection, sharing my professional experiences, and asking for feedback throughout the course to stay connected with their struggles and desires. By creating a safe and inclusive environment focused on their needs, my students are able to make mistakes and learn from them.

I’ve had the great pleasure to work with students from a multitude of intersecting differences. I embrace the rich dimensions of humanity in the classroom. Join me in my online course to receive personal support and connect with likeminded people.

At first, I was intimidated by Illustrator because I had no previous experience with it, unlike Photoshop. I always used the selection tools instead of the pen tool to select objects in Photoshop, so when I found out Illustrator was based off of the pen tool, I was worried. However, like all Adobe products, I became accustomed to it one step at a time, and I'm glad I took this class because I actually enjoy messing around with the different features in Illustrator.

I'm a bit goofy, very down to earth, and love to share my knowledge. I value play and experimentation and think everyone should have the opportunity to learn these amazing tools.
