Drawing of Ireland by Reema F Yeager

A sonnet about the Emerald Isle where I got married.

Written during a 30-day challenge for National Poetry Writing Month #NaPoWriMo

Drawing of Doolin Co. Clare, overlooking the Atlantic ocean

Green as green can be Lush and vibrant hills and plains Wonder in every direction the eye can see In your countryside my heart remains The scent of you forever in my veins Oh, but for the food! And how it always rains! And the 'life's grand' attitude! Back at home I constantly brood Longing to travel back Away from this dire platitude To where everything is 'the craic!' How I miss that Emerald Isle Endlessly it produced my smile.
